Oder Dam
Experience a natural paradise in the Harz Mountains
The Oder dam is located on the B27 between Bad Lauterberg and Braunlage and plays an important role in flood protection, raising low water levels and generating electricity. Completed in 1933, the hydropower plant was extensively modernized in 2015 and now supplies around 1,500 households with green electricity.
The area around the Oder Dam offers numerous opportunities for outdoor activities. Hikers in particular get their money’s worth, but there are also numerous opportunities for water sports enthusiasts: Fishing, swimming and sailing are popular leisure activities. However, motorboats are not permitted out of consideration for nature.
For those who want to enjoy some time out, the region around the Oder Dam also offers relaxing activities. The Glockental campsite offers the perfect opportunity for a longer stay. Whether for a relaxing day or an active excursion – the Oder Dam in the Harz Mountains is an ideal destination for nature lovers and those seeking relaxation. You can also hire canoes here. If you want to swim here, it costs 2 euros. You can park there and use the toilets.
