Bad Lauterberg castle cable car
High up with the castle cable car - discover Bad Lauterberg from above
Since August 4, 1954, the Burgseilbahn has been transporting visitors from Bad Lauterberg’s town center up the 403 m high local mountain. With a gradient of 63%, it is one of the steepest double chairlifts in Germany. On the approximately 440 m long route, you climb around 110 meters in altitude – comfortably in an open double chair.
While the valley station is located at around 292 m, you can enjoy a fantastic view over Bad Lauterberg and the Harz landscape from the summit and on the descent. At the top of the local mountain, the ruins of Lutterberg Castle and a cozy restaurant invite you to linger.
The cable car was extensively modernized in 2000 and is a popular excursion destination for families, hikers and nature lovers. A ride is worthwhile – especially when the weather is nice!
