Großer Knollen

The Großer Knollen is a striking mountain in the southern Harz mountains, 687 m high and is located in the immediate vicinity of Bad Lauterberg. Surrounded by dense beech and spruce forests, the mountain is a paradise for nature lovers. The well-developed network of paths makes the Großer Knollen an ideal hiking destination. The routes are well marked and also suitable for families.

Two highlights await you at the summit. One is the 20-metre-high Knollen Tower, a lookout tower with sweeping views across the Harz Mountains and, on a clear day, even as far as the Thuringian Forest. The other highlight is the Knollenbaude, a cozy mountain restaurant with regional cuisine, a terrace and a stamping station for the Harz hiking pin.
